Mark Twain (1835 – 1910), often referred to as the father of American literature, became famous as a journalist, orator and above all, as a novelist and story-writer who produced classics such as ‘The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn’.

Known for his wit and humour, he is hailed as the greatest humorist America has ever produced. He fought against the practice of slavery and opposed American imperialism and colonialism.


Twain’s words of wisdom about day-to-day life never go out of fashion. Here are some famous Mark Twain quotations for all of us to chew and digest, to laugh over and think upon, and imbibe the deep wisdom.
