In the heart of North coastal Andhra Pradesh, close to the ancient city of Rajahmahendravaram lies a jewel: the jungles of Maredumilli, laced with the Eastern ghats and dotted with countless hidden waterfalls. Hiking through enchanting hills and woods, camping in mud and wood huts bordering a thick forest on a moonlit night, drowning in the bliss of solitude..you cannot ask for more.

Deep in the fortunately less explored forests of Adilabad, Nature offers a treat for the soul: Kuntala Waterfalls. Rugged rocks, mighty trees, and numerous fiery rivers coming together to cascade down in full force through the deep valleys and lofty peaks of Kuntala. Extremely peaceful, except for three or four tiny local kitchens in the middle of the jungle, where the natives affectionately feed you the tastiest of rural produce that you must share with curious monkeys, Kuntala is for those who love the solitude of raw nature. You will come here again and again.

Marco Polo called it the brightest sun in the galaxy of Indian temples. Named after its visionary architect Ramappa who turned the glorious dreams of the Kakatiya royals into even more beautiful reality, the temple is known for its immense sandstone, basalt, granite and marble constructions. Pulled by elephant armies and carved to perfect perfection: pillars, columns, floors, ceilings, lingas, nandis, gods, dancers, animals, celestial beings, withstanding elements and earthquakes, this 800 year old memorial to Shiva is the pride of humans and the envy of angels.

Frankly, pictures cannot do justice. You must visit one of the world's largest architectural marvels, perhaps the biggest and grandest Hindu temple ever. Built by the great Chola emperor Raja Raja I, in the first century A.D., with the aid of thousands of men and horses and elephant armies, the dimensions are beyond capturing, the symmetry is mind-boggling, the intricate carvings and natural colours, the huge statutes and monoliths, the spires and towers and columns brushing the clouds, the pillars and gateways, the efforts made by numerous dynasties to guard this supernatural centre, the endless prayers and rituals and philosophical discourses...as the sun set in Tanjavur temple, we were transported to the peace and bliss of paradise...

Just before the rains begin, just when summer starts fading, take your time, make an effort, and explore the almost unknown beaches in and around Visakhapatnam... unmatched for their raw beauty, untouched by human pollution, rugged and lonely, breathtaking views just for you, you will be transported to paradise in seconds...no names will be revealed here...these are secret and sacred sands, only for those who respect the sea and seek unfiltered bliss...

Lambasingi, a tiny hamlet nestling high amid the peaks of the Eastern ghats in Vizag's Araku forests and valleys... people go to see the foggy sunrises in biting winter...some of us can find it magical anytime...misty peaks, dense bamboo forests, deep valleys, lakes and waterfalls, promise of snow in the Southern winters, and of course, the bamboo chicken and tenderly sweet bananas offered by tribals...who says heaven is only in the skies? I found it last autumn...in Lambasingi...

One hot October, thirsting for a bit of cool and green, we were lucky to find Oxygen Park, an oasis in the heart of Hyderabad. A precious relief from the bustling metropolis, one of the few green zones cum mini wildlife parks in the city. Oxygen, greenery, raw nature, and above all peace for weary souls... that's all you need.

Nostalgia every time...A brief sailing through the beautiful natural harbour and then the glorious open seas of Vizag...The exhilarating sea breeze and the mesmerizing view of the Indian Ocean transports you into another realm... nothing seems impossible... may this precious piece of Nature never fall prey fully to corporate greed...I return with that prayer, every time.

Some old, random memories... Hyderabad, for all its busy metro life, has some sweet peaceful spots, Hussain Sagar on weekday nights, Buddha and Ambedkar and the Assembly and Martyrs Memorial and glittering Necklace road; ICRISAT fields and lakes; Mango orchards and castle themed resorts in the outskirts...if you find the right time and place, Hyderabad has still not lost its ancient charm...

When the city becomes too much, we remember a place full of green and quiet, built to imitate an English castle, with its own museum, magic show and Harry Potter themed chambers...you can always rest on the green lawns under a plethora of trees big and small, surrounded by fountains, zip liners and eucalyptus breeze..
